I chose this image because it shows the last Caliph leaving his palace after the reforms of Ataturk. The words I chose were literal words as the Caliph was a major part of Ottoman and muslim society and with a single law the Caliph was abolished. I chose this image in particular because it was a more literal way to show the end of the Caliph and inspire more emotion rather than through a newsletter. I chose this topic because its a major part in the reforms of the Republic of Turkey as Mustafa Kemal Ataturk wanted to move towards a secular state and the Caliph was a major part of Muslim society. After the abolishment of the Caliph, a major part of muslim society was lost and groups to this day invision bringing the Caliph back. I want viewers to be mournful as well as asking questions such as what happens next.
