The Original Green book had a brownish color and later adaptations were Green. I wanted to change the heading to reflect the original book and while I couldn’t find the exact color, I’m fine with how it currently looks. I made the fonts dark Green as I wanted it to reflect the newer books that were sold in green. I initially wanted to try and change the rest of the text to a different color but I thought that took away from the actual reading experience and made it harder to read in general. I have similar reasoning for the type of font I used, I initially wanted to use the same font that the Green Book used but it was locked behind a paywall and I then wanted to use fantasy font, but when I tried it, the text was harder to read and I thought it wouldn’t look nice. The layout is similar to the sample we were given but I added more general information about he Green Book. I didn’t know what the Green Book was before working on this assignment so I had research the Green Book quickly and I’m proud of the information that I was able to find in a short amount of time. I wanted to leave most of the information at the top regarding the origins of the Green Book and then have the location information in the middle since it didn’t make sense to put the information anywhere else. In the sample, there was a few lists that had locations and I wanted to try and consolidate them into a section to make it easier to read. However, I also wanted to keep the locations as I thought they were important to the Green Book so I kept the lists intact.
I had a lot of issues designing and developing the cite as I had no experience with coding and I had no knowledge of the Green Book. Because of this, the amount of editing I could do was limited. I wanted to try and change the background color and have the sections remain white but the coding for other things took longer than I thought. I also made a mistake by changing the file names when I was trying to get help for changing the fonts and I didn’t find out what happened 3 hours later. There were a few things I was able to do easily such as making the hover effects and changing the color of the header, but most edits took a few hours each. I also knew nothing about the Green Book and and had to spend another few hours researching it and while I’m confident in the information I found, the information listed is fairly limited.
I think the changes I made were fine but later on, I would like to try and find out how to change the background to a different color while keeping the section color the same. I think I would also like to try and add more information about the Green Book itself as I think the amount of information i found was sparse. I’m hoping that I will be able to apply something like the coding we did to the wordpress website as it might make some edits to the website easier.
